My neice, Karen, in Texas had contacted Van Halen about The Station Fire and the loss of one of their greatest fans, Ryan.Shortly after, I e-mailed VH and asked for their help in stepping up to the plate to speak out against the use of pyrotechnics. I forwarded information on the victims and articles, pictures and thanked them for the items, but hoped they would, somehow, speak out for this cause. As yet, knowing they have been out of circulation for awhile, I have not heard anything. Both Eddie Van Halen and Michael Anthony sent condolences and a valuable collectible in memory of Ryan. Eddie sent one of his first promo pictures that was signed to Ryan. Michael sent his personal promo 33 1/3 record of Dreams, as I told VH that was the song we played at the celebration for Ryan. Unfortunately, and ironically, the record arrived broken through Fedex. If you know the words to the song, they say "standing on broken dreams". Michael signed the back of the albumn as follows: "I'm sorry that this arrives to late for Ryan's life celebration, but I did not hear about or read your e-mail until today. Reading that our song "Dreams" was to be the exiting song at the celebration, I remembered that I had this copy of the single, and I wanted you to have it. (As part of the rememberance of Ryan) I can't tell you how sad it makes me feel that because of someone's negligence and ignorance, a tragic event like this could happen. My sincere condolences - I know Ryan's up there rockin VH Style!!!" I made a colored copy of both items and placed them both in with Ryan's ashes. I know how much VH meant to him over the years, and I just know that Michael is right - Ryan is rockin VH style with some of the best!!!!! MOM
